Our land?
While there is ancestral truth in that statement, it is also often misused and not fully understood. Our ancestors knew we are PART OF A GREATER WHOLE and the land is part of that. That greater whole includes the earth, the water, the trees and plants, the animals and the air we breath. That is something that no matter how hard some may try to promote otherwise the simple fact is that remains a truth that will never change.
We are in no way separate from any of it and that is the truth. Our stories and our very way of living the truth of our soul tells us this. The illusion of separation often promoted is exactly what has caused so much trauma and harm in our people. The very act of promoting, or seeing us separate from that whole, undermines who and what we are, and is an insult to our creator, our ancestors, and our culture.
Let us get back to the truth in this and really start healing as individuals, families and communities. We are part of the land and the land is part of us.
